Phase 1: Week 3
Question and refinement
This phase of work allows you to develop and refine your project brief and research question, following a review of your work to date. At this stage you also outline the contextual positioning and reasoning for your chosen approach.
Weekly learning objectives
The phase objectives set are a guide, to help you build confidence and the strength to drive your own project. We want to see a clear project structure and a demonstration of the skills you have developed through modules 1-4.
- What is your research question?
- How might I…?
- Who is this for?
Ideas Wall – Weeks 3-4
Week 3:
A development…
Out riding on the 4th Oct chatting things over with other riders…
There’s a small project which we (myself and Phil, one of the club) have been slowly developing between us. As a bit of a social study we’re sending 50 blank postcards to a list of 50 people with the instruction to do anything with it, the only criteria is that it can be posted back to us without an envelope. Not sure why exactly – just to see what we got.
We spoke about expanding on the idea and how I was finding it hard to create a brief for this module. Phil is ex-RAF so perhaps all it needed was an outside of the arts viewpoint.
Updating this blog with notes from the conversation I’ve realised how close it is to what Susanna and I were talking about in previous weeks, but I think this now has a purpose which will define the result and not the other way around. The notes below highlight the realisation.

Week 3 Project Draft
Identify the direction of your written submission. Is it academic/research based or entrepreneurial/business based.
An initial idea for your critical path, outlining the logistics and resources.
List of potential collaborators you’d like to work with.
Reflection
That didn’t go well…
