Room concept: Bikes Not Bombs
Design Development
Bikes Not Bombs
Keep this one about the people involved. It’s hands-on, no need for too many effects. It will tell the stories of the people how are helped by the organisation; their own stories narrated and played through headphones on the stand.

Straight lines or randomised positions?

Tool rack hangs on a perforated board (if perforated is the right word)
The swing tags on the stand would hang on the same type of hooks.

Exhibit Plinth
Based on a mechanics workstand, the plinths hold a repaired bike. The backboard has the details of the owner in place.
Tags on the handlebars gives their name. The tags are used in the workshops to label the bikes.

Smell of the Workshop
Whenever I go into a bike shop there’s always two smells which you get: rubber tyres and the smell of the GT88 spray lubricant. Same as WD40 really, just more perfumed!

Line up the bike stands?
The place is more relaxed than that

Freestanding/randomised bike stands show the relaxed feeling of the actual workshops

No large-scale displays – this needs to resemble a real workshop so the exhibits are built to scale.
Update the plinths to include the listening posts? Include a set of headphones?

The opposite wall is where the multimedia screen is built, again the content will have their own videos in place along with project details and data-vis on number of projects.
Soundtracks for the listening posts can be taken from the stories on the Bikes Not Bombs YouTube clips.

Reflection
Being a much simpler design that the other stands gives a good contrast. A relaxing room, no noises, no protest, just stories.
This room has a more human element as it focuses on the individuals, you could get to know the people from here.
